A day learning lively dances from John Playford’s “Dancing Master” series (c.1650-1728), using coded clues from the printed page to establish tempo, structure etc. Identify changes in steps from earthy Tudor to post-Restoration Frenchness.

Note: this is a dance (not music) workshop but it may be possible to accommodate musicians who would like to play for period dancing.
